A Peek Into Our Bedroom...

Remember those days back in college when you were poor and had a Rubbermaid container for a coffee table, a laundry basket for a dresser, and a mattress with no frame that sat on the floor?
Dave and I have been reliving those days, due to the fact that we lost all the bedroom furniture in "the fire." We ordered new bedroom furniture at the end of January and got the call at the end of last week that it would be delivered today. We had been talking about painting the bedroom before the furniture was going to be delivered and had even picked out colors but as of last Saturday had made no progress in so doing. Some wonderful friends rose to the challenge and helped to get the job done on Sunday afternoon.

Here are a few "before" pictures:

And now with the furniture and paint job:

Coolest thing about this Laura Ashley Keswick set that we ordered from Kincaid furniture is the "Bling Drawer." I have one in the dresser and one in the lingerie chest. One sits empty, waiting for more "bling." (Ahem, Dave... XOXO...)

I'm pretty excited about the whole deal. It was hard to get used to the blue accent wall at first, but now with the furniture in front of it instead of a bare blue wall, it looks great. The warmer "sand fossil" color on the rest of the walls really makes the room have a lot more character than the bland cream that used to cover all the walls in the house.

Although, I'm going to have to get used to having furniture in the bedroom again. I've already stubbed (and practically broken) my big toe this evening when I ran into the end of the bed!

The blue is really nice and the furniture is absolutely gorgeous. We have a wood platform similar bed and I love it....makes me feel regal...and of course a girl can never has enough bling.

I love it! We did an accent wall in my daughter's open dining room, and every time I visit it catches me...in such a good way. NICE. (watch the toes!)

That is just beautiful. Between you and Rita, there's home improvement a plenty.

Sadly, our bedroom furniture still looks like college. I got it free from someone 15 years ago and it was old then. Sigh. But somehow there are more pressing things, like tap and ballet...

I love it!

Good luck on the bling.....took me almost 20 years and 8 of those were complete hell getting through med school and etc with him....You are much smarter than I!!!!!

It looks really awesome...I need a bling drawer too...my two little jewelry boxes are just not cutting it anymore but I am sure it won't happen soon.

We need to get new dressers for our bedroom and retire the stuff we have to the guest room (which has college furniture in it) but we are going to be moving soon and I don't know if I want to spend the money just yet....

The furniture looks great ... and how nice of friends to get in on the painting. Lucky you!

Wow! I thought the only people who had bedrooms that looked that were the people on tv. Someday, I'm going to have a real bedroom like that...when my kids are grown and go away. That is gorgeous.
