Guilty Pleasures

Everyone has them. Those things that you do that make you feel good immediately but you feel bad about indulging yourself afterwards. These are the things that people make resolutions about at New Year's and reprimand themselves for breaking.

Some of mine are:
  • Eating an entire bag of buttered microwave popcorn by myself.
  • Taking a soak in the bath and reading a book when I get home from work when I really should be on the treadmill/cooking dinner/cleaning or doing laundry, etc.
  • Wasting time on blogging/reading other people's blogs.
  • American Idol. But for me, it isn't just Idol. It is American Idol Extra, reading articles and commentaries about the show, organizing (2) betting pools for various groups of friends... (This also goes along with a secondary guilty pleasure of mine: karaoke.)
  • E-Bay. It brings out the worst in my impulse-buying tendencies.

There are a few others, but I feel so guilty about them, I'm unwilling to share them in a public forum. I'll leave those to your imaginations... (Keep it out of the gutter, Dave!)

What do you think? Am I crazy to feel guilty about these things? What are your guilty pleasures?

Oh my. You are asking me to refrain? I'll "show" mine if you "show" yours!

Except for watching Idol, I do all of those things, and I don't feel guilty about doing ANY of them. I do the popcorn thing almost every night.

My guilt feelings are the opposite of most people's, I think. I feel guilty about some little indulgence while I'm deciding whether or not to do it, but once I make the decision to go ahead, then I don't feel guilty at all.

Oh yes, American Idol is a bit like heroin. People don't WANT to do it or be associated with it or ADMIT to the habit... but it's so deliciously addicting!!

I am an eBay Whore too. That and CRAIGSLIST. Horrible!!

I think I may steal this idea for my blogiity blog too. Thanks V...

Hoo boy ... by my age there's very little guilt left because it was all rather wasted on my youth, but I guess I'm right with you on the AI stuff - the karaoke too - we have regular karaoke get-togethers here. Let's see. Oh yes, now I know this will sound completely retarded but I go out and buy chopped beef (the real fatty kind) just so I can feed it to the wild pond turtles out back all summer.
I also don't care if I weigh 350 pounds - when I go to NYC I simply MUST HAVE a canoli and a slice of Famous Ray's pizza.

Life's too short to feel guilt. ENJOY.......

Melon martinis, Kenny D's sandwiches, Rosati's pizza, SOCOM 3, and most important: sleeping in.

Thanks Vi for reminding me of my guilty pleasures! Now I feel guilty to have so many!
