Signs of Spring

Remember this post about the new furniture that Dave and I had delivered last week?

Remember how I mentioned that I had to get used to having furniture in the room again?

Remember how my cell phone rang at 1:30 a.m. Saturday night so I went into the closet to go turn off the ringer, then on my way back to bed I ran face-first into the lingerie chest that is right outside the closet door?

Ouch...

Spring is definitely on the way. Over the weekend, up at Bill's Garage, I was struck in the face by the first flying bug of the season. I flailed and squirmed trying to get the cooties off of me while the bug frantically tried to free itself from under the side of my glasses. Ewww....

While the whole "spring forward" thing is great and Dave and I were able to enjoy the first official BBQ of the season at Dr. Mike and Paula's last night with the extended daylight, it was very hard to try to wake up this morning and get ready for work in the dark again. For me, there is nothing worse than trying to get motivated to get out of bed when it is still nighttime outside.

Every year when the weather begins to get warm, I begin looking forward to another birthday, which falls in the beginning of April. Dave and I are hoping to continue the tradition that we began last year by co-celebrating our birthdays with our friends, since his birthday is a few weeks after mine.

Last year, we got a group together to go to dinner and then a show at a comedy club. It was pretty successful, albiet the antics of a friend of a friend who came along and caused a scene. I mean, any birthday party where at least a few people end up on the East Side has got to be a success, right?

We are trying to come up with some fun ideas of things to do this year... We would love to get a party room to go to a Cardinals game, but it is already too late to make that happen. We've been talking about a few ideas and I have a call into a couple of places, but I am up for any suggestions that anyone might have... What do you think would be fun?

I would say little party bus or woo woo ride to Herman, but April might be a bit cold and dead...

Unless it was like today?! Damn, this weather is A. MAZ. ING!!!!

I think it was dark for a good 45 minutes AFTER I got to work this morning. blech.

I'd still do the Cardinals game - get the nose bleed seats, just have a 'ball'. heh

I hear ya... except to put my own spin on it, I'd say there's nothing worse than trying to get motivated to exercise at 6am when it's still nighttime out. And the clock in my workout room hasn't been changed yet so it still says 4:58am when I walk in there. UGH.

The extra hour of daylight in the evening is cool, though.

Oh yeah, your cell phone ringing at 1:30am--I remember that.

Being that I was really trashed Sat. night, I am hoping that the ringing cell phone was not me calling! If so I am very very very sorry!!

Winery trip sounds fun (I promise to drink less), Caridnals game would be a blast if you could get a hold of any tickets, going back to the Royal Dumpe would be fun too (we could see the regular show), or going to a Murder Mystery Dinner...anyway, that's all I came up with beside just having a BBQ. :o)

Eve: I thought about a trip to the wineries, but like you said, may be a bit cold. And it always feels like the wineries should be a fall excursion, don't you think?

Tug: Coming off the World Series, Cards tickets (even nose bleed seats) are hard to come by. Between the new stadium last year and then the championship, only the rich and those that plan far in advance can make it to the games.

Blackbyrd: Tell me about it! I haven't been very diligent about working out lately, but I know exactly what you're saying.

Chris: Yes, you were trashed Saturday night. No, it wasn't you that was calling. It was my sister.

Diana: Good ideas. The Murder Mystery thing may actually end up happening. I've got a call in to D&B to see what they have available.

Personally I think you should all take a road trip to Wisconsin and hang out with me and Sean at the local brewery.

But that's just me........ :)

Hope you both have FABULOUS! birthdays!

I say get a fancy hotel room so you can run into their furniture.

Shoot, I'd be happy just to eat at a place without a jungle gym.

Wait till the sun's about to go down on a warm evening. Pick a park. Throw down a blanket, drag a boom box with you and some of your fave CDs - bring candles, wine and some goodies (like a bucket of chicken or some cold salads) ...

Having other people around? To celebrate your combined birthdays? Screw that. You can party with them the rest of the damn year.
